The electric motor has a rating in Kilo Watt(KW), which means the more the KW rating of the motor, the more it is powerful. It has been found that a 4 KW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) can produce the same output power as that of a 125 cc petrol engine.

An E-bike, mostly BLDC motor, and BLDC controllers are used. These are brushless motors with permanent magnets. They are reliable and offer higher efficiency.
